Be Happy Home Motherhood

Dear Moms Everywhere… Please Do This!

Dear Moms everywhere, please do this! #reallyhappy #isshereally

Dear moms everywhere, please stop what you’re doing, and read this.

Whether you are a first time mom, a new again mom, a veteran mom, or maybe you’re even a stepmom. It doesn’t really matter. What does matter, however, is what I’m about to tell you.

You should know by now that every choice you make, is super important, right? Like, ridicuously, ginormously important. But, what’s even more important, is that you make those choices because you feel good about them, not because somebody else says it’s the right thing to do.

When you decided to become a mom, to be responsible for that drooly little weeble wobble (or that teen that never picks up his socks), you really should have also been told that you absolutely must learn to become a confident decision maker.

Because you’re about to be judged.

It’s all too true sister. You’ll be judged on what you feed your kids, on where and how they sleep, on your parenting techniques, all of it. By family, by friends, and most definitely by people who don’t even know you. People who advocate for one thing or another, most of them will judge you.

It’s unavoidable.

In a world chock full of social media outlets, you’re setting yourself up for judgement simply by putting a picture of your baby, or children out there. But, here’s the thing, I’m going to tell you a little secret.

When you educate yourself, the judgement will fade.

Well, it’ll still be there breathing down your neck, but it won’t bother you anymore. Because when you make informed decisions, magic happens. You feel good about them! But you also feel good about yourself, your techniques, and everything else surrounding your wee ones. It’s like a self esteem boost, and it’s just oh-so-good for the soul.

So here’s the thing all of us moms need to do, (this my secret to not giving a hoot what other people think)…

For the love of all that’s holy, stop making decisions because someone else says it’s a good idea!! When you’re faced with an important decision, take the time to research! Ask around, use the internet, stay objective, and then do what feels like a right fit for your family. Because at the end of the day, your parenting techniques, feeding decisions, sleeping arrangements, hell, the brand of laundry detergent you use… it only affects you and your family. So feel good about your choices, be confident in your parenting skills. Girl, you got this!
